THE POWER OF A
GOOD HEART
18 Powerful Meditations to Develop a Good Heart
Asian Classics Institute has put together a series of 18 video meditations to help you develop a good heart! You can use these meditations daily to improve your situation as you grapple with life's problems. Our meditation program is called The Power of a Good Heart. The meditations will go straight to your heart and strengthen it, to encourage you and help you as life throws curveballs and other obstacles at you. They are powerful tools to help with everyday problems, whether these problems are financial, health-related, romantic, family-centered, or business-related.
The key to solving life's problems is having a good heart. So join our meditation program and work on your heart—make it stronger, better, sweeter, and more powerful. The results can be immediate.
The reason there are 18 meditations is that they come from a timeless wisdom text that Geshe Michael Roach taught in Guadalajara, Mexico, in July 2023. They are sometimes called the 18 advices. Geshe Michael introduced us to these 18 ways to practice on a daily basis to deepen our own development of a truly good heart. Taught as short meditations, the 18 advices help you meet the circumstances of your day in a way that will allow you to experience an inner transformation.
Sometimes called kadampas (DAM TSIG) in Tibetan, meaning pledges, these 18 are simple reminders of what to do when life throws you a curveball. They are summarized by Pabongka Rinpoche in Vol. 3 of Liberation Thrust into the Palm of Our Hands (Day 19), and include such gems of wisdom as "Do not mention others' flaws," and "Don't seek misery as a means to happiness." Can you imagine an everyday life situation that you could face, where these advices might come in handy?
Learning the meditations and using them daily, as you need them, will take you on a journey towards authenticity, humility and sincerity with yourself. You will become an authentic person and have a more compassionate heart and mind. And you will find ways to soften, dissolve, and eliminate the main problems in your daily life as you pursue the development of a good heart!
Find these meditations in easy-to-use video form by subscribing to The Power of a Good Heart on our website—it’s free of charge to all! The first group will be released in late July so that you can spend some time on them during the summer. Additional meditations will be released in the fall of 2024. The complete group of 18 meditations will be fully available on the ACI student learning platform by October 5.
