Crafting a Purposeful Life: Part II
ACI 11:
A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s
Way of Life, Part II
Join us in this second installment of ACI’s transformative three-part series, Crafting a Purposeful Life, inspired by the timeless wisdom in A Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life (Bodhisattva Charya Avatara) by Master Shantideva (~700 CE). Delve into these profound teachings enriched by the commentary Entry Point for Children of the Victorious Buddhas by Gyaltsab Je (1364-1432).
Master Shantideva's masterpiece serves as an unparalleled resource to living as a bodhisattva in the modern world. This second course highlights a study into the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Joyful Effort, and the Perfection of Meditation. As we learn about each perfection in depth, we will discover the ways to cultivate them in a positive sense: what seeds we need to plant to make them come alive and resonate in all our daily actions. We will also uncover the obstacles we create that block them from taking hold within our mind, body and heart, and what we can do to remove them.
We will also explore how our selfishness produces much of the pain we experience and how compassion produces all the opposite good qualities. Compassion is also a necessary prerequisite for wisdom to arise—the wisdom to understand where our world comes from and how to create lasting and impactful changes, and this course will help to create opportunities to cultivate our compassion.
Dive deep into The Guide as a blueprint for the six perfections, unravel the strategy for practicing these perfections, and gain invaluable insights into addressing your negativities at work, in your personal relationships, and in your own mind and heart. This course lays the foundation for a profound transformation both in your day-to-day life and in all your higher pursuits.
