Are you looking for a more experiential way to explore Buddhism? Does the prospect of homeworks, quizzes, and final exams deter you from taking the 18 Asian Classics Institute Foundation Courses? Join Lama Sumati (David K. Stumpf) for a relaxed exploration of the Lam Rim, otherwise known as the Steps on the Path to Enlightenment. We will revisit Geshe Michael Roach’s teachings from A Gift of Liberation Thrust into the Palm of Your Hands. Classes begin on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, 2 pm to 4 pm Arizona time, and will continue twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays until we complete the text. This course is open to anyone interested in Buddhism!
About Ven. Sumati, David K. Stumpf
David is a retired plant biochemist living with his wife, Sarahni (Susan), in Tucson, Arizona. He has studied and trained in the Mahayana Buddhist tradition since 1995, most intensively with Geshe Michael Roach. He is a certified ACI teacher and has taught the 18 Asian Classics Institute Foundation Courses, among other teachings, internationally since 2006. David and Sarahni helped establish the Diamond Mountain Retreat Center in southeastern Arizona, where he served as operations manager from 2004 to 2010. David completed a three-year, three-month, three-day silent retreat at Diamond Mountain Retreat Center between 2010 and 2014.
