Sofía Arellano
Sofía was born in Ohio, USA, in 1985. Both her parents are Mexican and she has lived most of her life in Guadalajara, Mexico. In her free time, she loves to be around nature and spend time with her husband and two sons. Her passion is the study, practice, and teaching of dharma in Geshe Michael Roach´s lineage. Her dream is to contribute to creating a world where everyone gives what they want to others first.
She has a Bachelor of Educational Science degree from ITESO University in Guadalajara, Mexico. She has worked as a training coordinator for Rare Latin America, an environmental NGO; as a research assistant for the project Closing the Gaps in Reading and Writing, with ITESO-CONACYT; as a training facilitator for the National English Program for Basic Education, SEP-ITESO; and as a pedagogical advisor for the Enrique de Osso School. She has been co-founder and director for Veredas, a cultural enterprise, where she developed projects to promote creativity and human development for children and youth. She started TARA Café, an organic fair-trade brand of coffee. And currently she is the regional executive director for ACI in Spanish.
Sofía is a certified teacher of the ACI Foundation Courses. She applies her understanding of well-known ACI principles like “the pen” and “seeds,” as well as exchanging self and others (the awareness of other people's feelings and needs) to her teaching, her work, and her life.
